Hello, I am Councillor Barry Dodson, Chair of the Rotherham South Area Assembly. I am delighted to welcome you the Rotherham South website.
The Rotherham South Area Assembly covers the 3 electoral wards of Boston Castle, Rotherham East and Sitwell, with a diverse range of communities including the Town Centre and districts of Eastwood, Springwell Gardens, East Dene, Clifton, Herringthorpe, Wellgate, Broom, Broom Valley, Moorgate, Canklow, Whiston and Morthen.
In the last year, the Ward Members have, with Officers, partners and local community groups, been working hard to make a difference in response to community concerns.

I am especially pleased with the progress the Area Assembly has made to date, for example research has shown that the attendances at the meetings has increased and attendees believe that by attending they can find out important information, get answers to questions and have an opportunity to participate in local decision making.
Further to the meetings, we have continued to provide support to Community Partnerships in Cankloe, Clifton, Wellgate, Broom, Broom Valley, Moorgate and Whiston.
We have also started to have a positive impact in relation to crime and anti-social behaviour through our Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG). We have also committed £79,000 on projects providing Neigbourhood and Junior Wardens, clean-ups and activities for young people, and improved security to a community centre through our Neighbourhood Renewal Funding.
As well as this, a further £37,000 has been committed on projects designed to improve the local environment through our Streetpride Devolved Budget and involved communities in decision making processes.
So, I am pleased with progress, but there is more to do. Over the next year will be a period of further progress, not complacency or consolidation. If you would like to get involved, come to an Area Assembly or Community Partnership meeting or simply Contact Us directly.
We are here for you.
Cllr Barry Dodson.
