Devolved Budget Projects
Thanks to the Devolved Budget administered by the Wentworth North Area Assembly during the 2009/2010 financial year, a large number of projects have been delivered throughout the Wentworth North area.
Both a Main Grants Scheme and a Community Chest Small Grants Scheme was run, and below are details of some of the projects we funded.

Harley Village Hall Car Park
This project has allowed the Harley Village Partnership to match their own funds to provide a car park for the current Cricket Pavilion and start some of the ground works for the proposed new Village Hall.

Broaden Your Horizons
This project allowed Wath Montgomery Hall to provide learning opportunities for residents throughout the Wentworth North area.

Parish Clean Up
This project which was match funded by the Wentworth Parish Council allowed for a Community Clean Up to be provided for the residents of Wentworth and Harley in October 2009. The clean up was a great success collecting 6.5 tonnes of rubbish and number of large such as mattresses and vehicle tyres.

Wath Bowling Green Fencing Project
This project has allowed RMBC’s Green Spaces to provide fencing around the Bowling Green at Wath. The fencing will protect this well used facility from further damage from motorcycles.

Wath Comprehensive School Samba Band
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant to the Wath Comprehensive School Samba Band allowed the group to purchase £1,200.00 of new instruments when the funds were added to their own fund raised moneys, a grant from the Wath Ward Councillors and School funds allocated to the project. The group will now practice using their new instruments and intend to perform at local events such as Wath Festival and Wath Gala as well as supporting their schools sporting teams at matches.

Improving Tot Slots
This project allowed Tot Slots a local toddler group who operate within the Youth Centre at Swinton Community School to purchase new play equipment and improve their kitchen area

Festive Lights
This project allowed the Wentworth North Area Assembly to provide the traditional Christmas tree and lights on the Woodman roundabout at Swinton along with the festive lights within the Wath Town Centre.

Disabled Access Ramp At Wath Club House
This project has allowed the Wath Rugby Club to enhance their Club House by making it easier access for the disabled by installing a disabled access ramp.

Manor Farm TARA
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant to the Manor Farm TARA allowed the group to purchase with support from their own funds a new carpet for their office base on their estate.

Swinton Cook and Eat Project
Due to the success of the Cook and Eat Project delivered within schools throughout the Wath area the project was rolled out to the schools in Swinton. The project allows children to learn about cooking healthy meals with their parents and families.

Stress Control
This project allowed NHS Rotherham to provide a stress control course in January 2010 at Wath Montgomery Hall. The course was dedicated solely to residents of the Wentworth North area who are suffering from stress or anxiety.

Wood Street Allotments
This project has allowed the Allotments Department within the Council to provide Wood Street Allotments at Swinton with two new portable cabins to support the society in the increased use of the site throughout the year.

Charles Street Social Club
The £300.00 Community Chest Grant has allowed the continuation of the Charles Street Social Club at Swinton by supporting the cost they incur in relation to stationery, promotional materials and computer supplies.

Kabins Environmental Enhancements
This project has allowed the Councils Youth Services Department to dramatically improve the facilities at the Kabins in Brampton. The facility is a meeting place for young people throughout the Wentworth North Area Assembly area, it will be the home to the ‘Voice and Influence’ work with being undertaken by Youth Workers with local young people and will host a vast number of activities for young people throughout the year.

Cortonwood Sports Facilities Improvements
This project has allowed the Cortonwood Crown Green Bowling Club at Brampton to purchase a new portable building as a facility for sports in the area.

The Wath-upon-Dearne Town Gala
This project allowed the Wath Community Partnership to run their annual town gala on the 10th July 2009.

Improvements to Lighting in West Melton
This project has allowed the Wentworth North Area Assembly to work with Streetprides street lighting department to provide additional new street lighting on Barnsley Road in West Melton. This has been a long standing request by local residents which has now been achieved.

Cook and Eat Project
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the continuation of the very successful Cook and Eat Project run within the Wath Cluster of Schools by purchasing them some additional cooking equipment. The project benefits both children and their parents to learn to cook healthy meals.

Updating Learners Resource Room
This project has allowed a local learning provider ‘Serenity’ in Wath to provide their learners with an up to date learners resource room to support their studies, personal development and increase their opportunities to gain employment from their new skills.

Swinton Athletic Football Club
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the newly reformed Swinton Athletic Football Club to purchase a new football kit.

Junior Wardens Scheme
This project has allowed the RMBC Rotherham Wardens to carry on the previously successful Junior Wardens Scheme. The scheme allows primary school children within the Wentworth North area to learn how to make positive contributions to their community through environmental awareness sessions and practical activities such as litter picking.

Swinton Winter Planting Project
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School and Swinton Community School to purchase winter pansies to plant in the planters within the shopping precinct in Swinton.

Swinton Recreation Ground Improvements
This project allowed the Swinton Sports and Health Group to work with RMBC’s Green Spaces and Streetpride to have a number of large conifer trees removed which were blocking sight from the road of the new dry changing rooms. As a result of the trees being removed damage to the changing rooms has reduced dramatically. The project also allowed for a safety fence to be fitted where the trees were removed from and for a missing stretch of boundary fence to be provided.

Wath Child Minders Network
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the Wath Child Minders Network to continue their work and purchase musical instruments for the group.

Team Manvers Triathlon
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has allow the Manvers Triathlon Team to continue their training during the winter months at the new Wath Swimming Pool until the weather is warm enough for them to return to swimming at Manvers Lake.

Fitzwilliam Estate Clean Up
This project has allowed for a Community Clean Up day to be held on the Fitzwilliam Estate at Swinton on the 30th May 2009. The community clean up resulted in 8.8 tonnes of rubbish being removed from the estate along with a large number of bulky items such as fridges, beds and old bikes.
Also this project has allowed for major dredging works to be carried out to the brook off Lawrence Drive which has removed both fly-tipping and silt from a stretch of the brooks watercourse.

Serenity Saturday Club
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has allowed Serenity (a beauty therapy training provider in Wath) to run a Saturday club to allow local young people to trail some beauty therapy training to enhance their skills and provide work experience.

Safety First
This project has allowed the RMBC Rotherham Wardens to purchase a number of different personal and property safety / security devices to give to vulnerable resident throughout the Wentworth North Area Assembly area.

Montgom Needlers
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the Montgom Needlers to purchase storage boxes to keep their yarn clean, purchase more varied materials for the community to access and coach travel to allow the disabled members of the group to attend craft exhibitions with the rest of the group.

Monday Club
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the Swinton Monday clubs continuation by supporting them with the costs of their insurance and the costs incurred with speakers attending their events.

Wath Skate Park Lighting Repairs
This small project allowed for some lighting at the very popular skate park in Wath to be repaired.

Far Out Theatre
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has contributed towards the costs incurred by the Far Out Theatre Group in staging their Community Panto again in 2010 at Wath Montgomery Hall.

Newhill Park Master Plan
This project has allowed the Friends of Wath Parks Group to commission RMBC’s Green Spaces Department to create a Master Plan for the future enhancement of the Newhill Park in Wath.

Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School Breakfast Club
The £350.00 Community Chest Grant has supported the Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School to set up a breakfast club for their most vulnerable students between the ages of 4-11 years old.

Multi-Sports, Volunteering and Diversionary Activities Programme
This project has allowed RMBC’s Sports Development Team to provide multi-sports, volunteering and diversionary activities for young people throughout the Wentworth North area.

Brampton Bullz Junior Football Club
The £150.00 Community Chest Grant has contributed towards the costs incurred by the Brampton Bullz Junior Football Club to train on an all weather pitch during the winter months.

Wood Street Allotments
The £207.48 Community Chest Grant has contributed towards the costs of providing the Wood Street Allotments Society at Swinton with a generator, gas fire, gas bottle, cable and light bulb holders to enable better use of their new meeting facilities during the winter months.

Swinton Recreation Ground
This project has allowed RMBC’s Green Spaces Department to carry out a consultation exercise with local residents and facility users regarding the potential future enhancement of the Swinton Recreation Ground. A Master Plan is now being created in line with the planned rebuild of the Swinton Community School to allow for even better facilities to be provided across the two sites in the future.
