Area Chair - Councillor Simon Currie

Hi, I'm Councillor Simon Currie and I would like to welcome you to the Wentworth South Area Assembly website.

The Wentworth South Area Assembly  team will continue to work together with the community, partner agencies (such as South Yorkshire Police, the Rotherham Primary Care Trust and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council services), and fellow elected members in Wentworth South to help improve the quality of life for people across our area.

We have made great progress in developing a strong and effective plan for joint action and change, in response to community priorities and needs. 

The Co-ordinating group brings together

all nine Elected Members for our three wards, the Primary Care Trust, the Safer Neighbourhood Team, the Fire Service, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, Streetpride, and the community representatives from the area. The focus for the Area Assembly is very much about improving services, and responding in a pro-active way. This is underpinned by what local people tell us during the Area Assembly meetings and through correspondences, with what they would like to see improved in their local neighbourhoods.

Our work with the Police and partners using the Area Assembly meetings to deliver and identify PACT priorities is working exceedingly well.

In the future we are planning to build on our success and make sure we continue to improve the quality of life for people in the Wentworth South area.
