Bats in Branches - Wickersley Parish Council & RMBC Green Spaces

Meet at the pedestrian entrance to Wickersley Woods on Wood Lane at 7.30pm on Enjoy an evening walk in Wickersley Wood. Sit a while in the woodland clearing as we look and listen for Britain's only flying  mammals ............ bats !!! Learn how a little technology can help us to appreciate the sound of these amazing night flying acrobats. This is an annual event and participants in recent years have thoroughly enjoyed it as it’s led by the very knowledgeable Jim Staveley from RMBC Woodlands Section. Contact Jim on 07971 259587. Allow an hour for this event and bring suitable clothing for woodland walking. Last year nearly a hundred people came!

Saturday 10am - 23rd October 2010                                                        Fungus Foray!! Held in Wickersley Gorse – meet at the end of Airmount Close.

Wickersley Gorse is full of interesting wildlife, particularly if you know where to look. This will be your opportunity to find, identify and learn more about a host of different types of fungi in the woodland. The walk will be lead by an expert in the field, Kevin Gilfedder, who leads many walks in and around South Yorkshire that are very popular. The walk is planned to take 3 hours, finishing back at the start point at 12.00 noon.
