Inspire Services and Funders in the Area with YOUR Community Group Priorities

Wentworth Valley Area Assembly and Maltby Town Council are holding a series of workshops for Community groups or those wishing to form or join a group in the Maltby area. All workshops are held at 6pm at the Edward Dunn.

The first workshop is on 1st Session 16th September- where you can come and meet service providers in your area one-to-one in a ‘speed dating’ style- where you get 5 minutes per conversation. Service providers include Police, Maltby Academy, Voluntary Action Rotherham, Probation Service, Youth Services, Groundwork, Fire service, Rotherfed and Sports Development.

The second workshop is on the 7th October 6pm-8pm - This is a ‘meet the funder’ workshop –funders currently confirmed are South Yorkshire Community Foundation, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Humberside Learning Consortium and Hargreaves. You will find out what funds are available and how to apply for them.

21st October 6pm-8pm- This workshop will be to discuss community group priorities and feedback from the previous sessions.

Further dates booked are 18th November and 2nd December –these may focus on writing funding applications or on a specific area community groups may be interested in – i.e. how to set up a youth group/ environmental project.

We welcome any community group in the Maltby area to attend as many workshops as they can. We would also welcome anyone who would like to join a community group or is interested in setting one up. Expressions of interest are invited from all suitable organisations

Including user led, small and medium sized enterprises, social enterprises, voluntary and community sector and similar organisations

We are keen for interested parties to give us their thoughts on how they think they would be able to work with Rotherham MBC in taking an innovative approach to developing a variety of high quality support services which offer greater choice and control to our customers. It is anticipated that suitable services will commence in July 2010 and be delivered until the 31st March 2011, it is expected that the projects will be short term pilots and there is no commitment beyond 2011.

For services wishing to deliver personal care registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will be a pre requisite.

This innovation is intended to stimulate the provider market to diversify provision in light of personalisation. The intention is to allocate funding between the value of £5,000 and £20,000.

The bids should be innovative and have clear benefits and outcomes for customers. Each project must reflect at least one of the following priority areas:

  • Dementia
  • Alternatives to Day Care
  • Prevention Services
  • Carers Support and Services
  • Specialist Advocacy
  • Befriending and peer support
  • Increasing community capacity
  • Reablement/Enablement
  • Meeting the needs of BME communities
