An advanced online directory of voluntary, community and faith groups in Rotherham has been launched.  
Rotherham GISMO is a free vehicle for community groups of any sizeto raise awareness of who they are, what they do and how members and users can contact them.

 Community Café Opens at the

Cortonwood Comeback Centre in Brampton

 

On Friday 10th June 2011 MP John Healey officially opened the new Community Café within the Cortonwood Comeback Centre on Chapel Avenue, Brampton.

The Café named Rachel’s Kitchen will serve home cooked delights between 9am and 1pm every Friday.

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

Swinton Fitzwilliam Mutual Association Community Litter Pick
 
On Tuesday 31st May 2011 the Swinton Fitzwilliam Mutual Association teamed up with local young people, Swinton Councillor Ken Wyatt, the Wentworth North Area Assembly and Streetpride staff to undertake a litter pick on their estate

 

 

 

  

 

 

 Swinton Fitzwilliam Mutual Association – Grow Your Own Event

 
Thanks to funding from Rotherham NHS and Voluntary Action Rotherham the Swinton Fitzwilliam Mutual Association were able to work in partnership with Groundwork Dearne Valley to run a ‘Grow Your Own’ event for their estate. The event allowed residents of the Fitzwilliam Estate to come along and not only learn how to grow their own food at home but they had the opportunity to take away some free growing materials to get them started. The event was also supported with information stands from 2010 Rotherham Ltd, Streetpride Waste Management, Brookfield Children’s Centre, RMBC Dog Warden and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. 

  

 

 

 Swinton Civic Planting Project

On Thursday 9th June 2011 students from Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School and Swinton Community School for the third year running planted the flower beds around the Swinton Civic area with a variety of summer bedding plants 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

Swinton Young People Get Active  Easter 2011

 
Young people in Swinton enjoyed a week of sports activities delivered by Evolve Sport. The week was subsidised thanks to funding from the Swinton Sports and Health Group which was secured from Councillor Doyle and Licenses Community Leadership Fund. A further subsidy was achieved thanks to funding from the Swinton Athletic Spartans Junior Football Club.
