Throughout March Community Clean Ups have taken place in three areas in the Wentworth South area. Residents were able to dispose of white goods, green waste and non-recyclable waste as well as get involved in litter picks to improve their own areas.
Neighbourhood Wardens, Junior Wardens, parents, Area Assembly staff, and Groundwork Dearne Valley staff got stuck in and cleaned up the area around the Fighting Cocks Public House and the footpath on Ryecroft sports ground. More than 15 sacks of rubbish were removed. The Junior Wardens also removed graffiti and repainted “No Litter” and “No Dog Fouling” signs.
The Manager of the Fighting Cocks provided hot drinks for volunteers – which were very welcome on a cold, wet and windy Saturday morning.
