Wentworth South Area Assembly officers have joined forces with Casting innovations to develop a tailor made project, that has been piloted in east Herringthorpe. The project aims to promote recycling and raise awareness of litter, fly-tipping and the affect these environmental crimes can have on the perception and safety of their local community.
Cllr Simon Currie, Wentworth South Area Chair said ‘I believe that all ages should be able to be involved in recycling and the Rotherham can project involves our younger children and teaches them how they can make a difference to their community by being active partners, the Rotherham can project is a brilliant enterprise and great fun too, while making a positive impact to the environment.’

Council’s Money Matters Consultation
Rotherham Council will need to reduce spending by £20 million in 2012/13. We don’t want to, we simply have no choice! In these challenging times, we, as an authority, are reaching out to the people who rely on us for the services we provide, and live with day in-day out, to help identify what we should be spending our budget on for 2012 /2013.
People are being asked to complete a Budget Survey - found at www.rotherham.gov.uk/moneymatters . On the site, colleagues and the public can also try the Online Budget Simulator, which allows the user to increase or decrease budget spend in different areas to try and achieve a balanced Council budget.
The webpages also include a variety of information related to the budget and the 2011 Money Matters consultation
