Following requests from young people in the area to local Police Community Support Officers, Rotherham North Area Assembly secured funding from 2010 Rotherham Ltd. Area Housing Panel for a covered seating area in Barkers Park next to the Multi Use Games Area. With the help of Greenspaces, Friends of Barkers Park and South Yorkshire Police this was installed in december 2008 and has been well used ever since.
